Moveable Magnetic
CNC Drilling and Tapping
The Z-Mag Drill-Tap Machine For Remote Holemaking Applications
If your machining application involves a component or assembly that is either permanently installed or too large to move, needed additional machining needs to be done remotely. This is the case with numerous industries including shipbuilding, bridge construction, railroad, and many more.
So, we’re bringing the machine shop to the application!
To serve these customers, Zagar engineered a unique portable CNC Drill and Tap Machine that uses an electromagnetic base with 5,000 lbs of hold-down force to bring the power of precision machining on site. Branded the Z-Mag Drill-Tap Machine™ (Z-Mag DTM), this unit can be used on any type of ferrous steel for drilling, tapping, reaming and even combination tooling with programmable feeds, speeds, dwells, and peck cycles. Once in position, the operator can safely and ergonomically operate the unit without the need to manually feed by hand.
The Z-Mag DTM brings flexibility to the table for different height applications with an available 13 inches of stroke. Using an HSK-style spindle adapter, the operator can use a variety of HSK tool holders. The solid frame, linear rail system, and precision ball-screw feed system provide a solid foundation for any application. With the use of the handheld HMI (Human Machine Interface), the operator can control the unit with touch screen controls and has the capability to program and run all operations. Ideal for carbide cutting tools, the unit has a servo feed motor for consistent feed rates and precise hole depths.
